After extensive reconstruction works, "Mihail Ciachir" Library, a branch of "B. P. Hașdeu" Municipal Library, reopened its doors in Chisinau. The institution was repaired with the assistance of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency, IPN reports.

The Agency's vice-president Mahmut Zühtü Çevik stressed that a lot has been invested in recent years in cultural projects because peace can be defended through culture.

The library was founded in 1992 with the aim of carrying out a unique project to develop and promote the culture of various ethnic groups in Moldova. Mihail Ceachir, in whose honor the institution was named, is the author of the first Gagauz-Romanian dictionary published in 1938.

The mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban came with a message of support on the occasion of the reopening of the renovated library. He urged tolerance in society and to ensure that the library space is used in the best way.

"Mihail Ciachir" Library constantly houses reading workshops, exhibitions and other events to promote the Gagauz literature, history, culture and traditions.
