The activist Mihail Bagas has been released after spending a month in custody. The Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office said the arrest was lifted for reasons that cannot be yet disclosed.
Bagas is still under investigation and under the pledge not to leave town.
Bagas, together with the MPs Irina Lozovan and Alexandr Nesterovski, were arrested on September 21 on charges of receiving illegal funding from the criminal group led by Ilan Shor.
After the activist was arrested, the Cities and Towns League party withdrew its support to Bagas’s bid for Chisinau mayor. Bagas denies any wrongdoing.
