“I will be the children’s advocate in the Parliament in Chisinau and will propose policies to safeguard the health and proper development of the young generation,” said pediatrician Mihai Stratulat, who runs for MP on the list of the People Power Party. According to Stratulat, the pandemic revealed the most serious problems of the health system, with the immunization of the population in proportion of 70% being the only solution for containing the pandemic, IPN reports.

In an
electoral debate at IPN, neonatologist Mihai Stratulat criticized the way in which the COVID-19 pandemic was managed, saying the political involvement in the health system led to the worsening of the crisis and confusion of the citizens.

“If we had had another strategy for overcoming the pandemic, namely for correctly treating the patients at home, we would have had fewer persons admitted to the hospital and fewer cases of death. Regrettably, the political class campaigned based on the pandemic and some even earned money. The tender contests were won by representatives of parties. Ensuring collective immunity with 70% of the population being vaccinated is the only solution for containing the pandemic,” stated the People Power Party’s candidate.

Mihai Stratulat said he aspires to the seat of MP as he wants the problems faced in the health system to be brought unto the focus of Parliament. As an MP, he will devote increased attention to the children’s health. The wish to become the children’s advocate appeared during the pandemic, when he saw the authorities’ attitude to children, when kindergartens and schools were closed, but markets remained open and public transport wasn’t made safe. During the pandemic, the children with a positive test result for COVID-19 were hospitalized even if international studies show the children suffer from minor forms of COVID-19 and do not need to be hospitalized.

According to the candidate, the development and modernization of the country can be ensured by placing meritocracy, professionalism and integrity, not the political affiliation at the forefront.

“We consider the Republic of
Moldova has the financial capacity to solve most of the existing problems and for the purpose needs political will. We think we should stop raising loans and we therefore need upright people to manage each of the state institution,” noted Mihai Stratulat.

In the July 11 snap parliamentary elections, the People Power Party will be under No. 17 on the ballot.

The sixth electoral debate of the series “Analyzing Electoral Supply and Demand-2021” also involved the representative of the Patriots of Moldova Party.

IPN’s seventh electoral debate set for July 7, 11:15am, will feature the election contenders:  Working People’s People, the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” and the Party of Development and Unity of Moldova.

IPN Agency stages the electoral debates as part of the series “Developing Political Culture though Public Debates”, with support from the Hanns Seidel Foundation.
