The chairman of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu said the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) and the Democratic Party (PDM) do not really want to re-form the ruling alliance because this would mean fighting the high-level corruption, IPN reports.
“Many political parties, including the future parties, say an alliance between the PL, PLDM and PDM will be formed after the elections. Such a wish existed after the November 30 legislative elections, when we made effort for the European course to be continued,” Mihai Ghimpu said in a news conference, adding that the former colleagues didn’t accept Liberals’ conditions.
“They didn’t want to name a European prosecutor and didn’t accept a European mission for reforming the justice sector. Who to form an alliance with? What should we do with those who will form part of an alliance? Keep them in power so that they steal another US$1 billion.”
Mihai Ghimpu said the two parties do not actually want the government coalition to be re-formed and speak about this only in order to attract some votes from the disappointed people.
On June 10, the leaders of the PLDM and PDM announced that they intend to open talks on the formation of a new parliamentary majority immediately after the local elections, but didn’t say with whom they will have discussions. They noted that coalitions at local level will be also formed after the June 14 local elections.
