The chairman of the Liberal Party (PL) Mihai Ghimpu is paying a working visit to Brussels on March 11-12. The party’s deputy chairman Valeriu Munteanu has told Info-Prim Neo that Mihai Ghimpu intends to discuss the political situation in Moldova, the European course and the risks posed by the political instability with European officials.
“Evidently, all the discussions and meetings of Mister Ghimpu will focus on the political situation in Moldova, our prospects, and the risks we face in the current situation,” stated Valeriu Munteanu.
Mihai Ghimpu will have a meeting with British MEP Graham Watson, who is the European Parliament’s rapporteur on the Association Agreement with Moldova. He will also meet with EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Füle and European External Action Service Managing Director for Europe and Central Asia Luis Felipe Fernández de la Peña.
Earlier, the chairman of the PL paid working visits to Berlin and Strasbourg and discussed the political situation in Moldova with European officials.
Last week, the Government formed of representatives of the Alliance for European Integration, which included the PL, was given a vote of no confidence by Parliament. If the legislative body does not give a vote of confidence to another Government, early legislative elections will take place in Moldova this summer.
