Mihai Ghimpu: Filat wants to be head of state

Vlad Filat wants to become President. Counting on the fact that the Liberal Party will not vote for Zinaida Greceanyi, they wanted early legislative elections from the very beginning, the Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu said in Pro TV’s program “In Profunzime”, Info-Prim Neo reports. “In Filat’s view, it is better for Moldova to be in chaos until he achieves his objective. Ultimately, the candidate for the presidency will be Vlad Filat. It is a special game. Greceanyi will be fielded for the presidency, but will not be elected. Filat is to be elected President, though he does not want to say that he want to become head of state. He goes to Brussels, takes steps behind the scenes. We will not accept dirty games,” said Mihai Ghimpu. He also said that he had enough problems with Vlad Filat when he was Acting President. Afterward, when the AEI 1 was formed, the PLDM claimed two posts – of President and of Prime Minister. Mihai Ghimpu reiterated that the PL will not vote for Zinaida Greceanyi. “If we vote for another candidate, we will cut the branch from under the PL. This alliance indeed did not achieve great results. That’s why I keep the project “PL”. I pray for the AEI to do something, but I see that it does nothing. Thus, my hope remains the PL with Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca, who implemented many reforms in Chisinau,” stated the leader of the PL. The deadline for submitting applications for being registered as candidates for the presidency was November 14, 24.00. No candidate was registered and the elections set for November 18 will thus not take place. Parliament is to set a new date for the presidential elections.
