Mihai Formuzal wins majority in Gagauz elections

Mayor of Ciadar-Lunga town Mihail Formuzal has garnered 56.23% of the votes in the second round of elections for the office of head (bashkan) of ATU Gagauzia. Paul Strutzescu, chairman of the League for the Defence of Human Rights in Moldova (LADOM), who monitored the elections in the region, told Info-Prim Neo that the parallel tally found that the mayor of Comrat town Nicolai Dudoglo got 43.76%. Strutzescu said that more information will be given at a press conference that will be held in Chisinau. The Bashkan of Gagauzia is elected for a four-year term.
