It is paradoxical for a party with pro-European aspirations to be in the opposition at a time when the other two such parties will rule within a pro-European coalition, the head of the ULIM History and International Relations Department Mihai Cernencu said in the talk show “Pahomi” on Realitatea TV channel, referring to the PL, which remained outside the government coalition formed by the PLDM and PDM, IPN reports.

The analyst expressed his regret at the fact that the PL does not take part in governance. “The presence of the PL in the furfure government would have been a guarantee of stability of government. I think that all the leaders of the three pro-European parties are to blame for the created situation as they were unable to negotiate. We do not have an authentic coalition and a parliamentary majority owing to the poor quality of the negotiations. Anger never brings positive results in politics,” stated Cernencu.

The professor considers that the performance of the Europeans or Moscow’s hand should not be invoked. “I don’t think that the reasons for the misunderstandings announced by the three parties are all real. There are probably nuances. We know that Mihai Ghimpu intensely promotes his nephew Dorin Chirtoaca. The local elections are approaching and, without the support of the PDM and PLDM, Chirtoaca has no chance of winning the third term in office. But Dorin Chirtoaca is actually the driving force of the Liberal Party. I think that Ghimpu didn’t receive guarantees in this respect from the PLDM and PDM,” said Cernencu.
