The Embassy of Germany in Chisinau last year supported ten small initiatives that contributed to the improvement of the social situation in Moldovan communities. In a press release, the Embassy says that applications for obtaining financing for 600 micro-projects were submitted at the start of 2015, IPN reports.

“When the Embassy received over 600 ideas of micro-projects at the beginning of 2015, the team responsible for economic cooperation had a difficult task: how to choose the best projects of the numerous applications that had a different content? The orientation criteria included the sustainability degree of the proposals, their impact on public wealth and if these contained social elements,” said the Embassy.

After thoroughly analyzing the applications, the representatives of the Embassy visited a number of potential project partners. Within these visits, they got impressions that influenced the decision which projects to support. Based on the submitted applications and the visits made to the scene, the Embassy decided to finance ten micro-projects, offering about €61,000 for their implementation.

Thus, in 2015 the Embassy of Germany supported the Academy of Music, Theater and Plastic Arts’ project to outfit performance halls. The Chisinau Vocational School No. 3 was helped to set up a business incubator for students learning such jobs as locksmith, sanitary technician, electrician technician, welder and house painter. The Orhei-based NGO “Filantropia Crestina” received money for outfitting a place for making handicrafts, intended for local women.

The Embassy also financed a project to equip a computer hall at the Agricultural Technical College in Soroca. The Association of Parents and Teachers of “Vasile Anestiade” School of Saratenii Vechi was allocated money for setting up a handicrafts hall for students and women from the community. The Vocational School in Alexandreni could build a kitchen for student confectioners.

The Chirsova-based nursery school “Licurici“ benefitted from financing for modernizing the playground. The branch of the Chamber of Trade and Industry in Ceadar-Lunga received support for outfitting the computer halls where refresher courses are taught. The center for social and educational activities “Filiala Kirov” in Tiraspol received support for building and decorating a stage for children. The Chisinau Vocational School No. 5 implemented a project to create a business incubator for student cooks, butchers and confectioners.

The Embassy of Germany announced that the micro-projects that it will finance in 2016 must be aimed at improving the quality of life of all the social strata, especially socially disadvantaged and vulnerable persons. The applications for financing can be submitted by February 15.
