The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) welcomes any effort that sanctions attempts to undermine democracy, interference in the electoral process and destabilizing foreign interference. This is how the institution reacted to the sanctions imposed by the United States on the former accountant of fugitive oligarch Ilan Shor, Nelli Parutenko, and also on the noncommercial organization Evraziya, which is affiliated with Shor, IPN reports.

The United States’ public warning shows that sanctioned individuals are involved not only in foreign operations to exert influence on democratic processes, but also in actions that promote war. The institutions of the Republic of Moldova coped the previous challenges and will continue to protect the constitutional order and democratic processes in our country, the MFA’s message says.

The sanctions were introduced by the U.S. Treasury Department and come as additions to previous lists.
