“On the date of birth of the Savior, the Kingdom of God falls over the people, healing their sin wound. That’s why we should celebrate on this date as Apostle Paul noted himself: For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit,” says the pastoral message of His Holiness Vladimir, Metropolitan Bishop of Chisinau and all Moldova, on the occasion of Christmas, IPN reports.

The Metropolitan Bishop said that on the birth of Christ each church where the Eucharistic Liturgy is held is a place where “the Savior and Rescuer of our souls is waiting for us and we, at each of the Divine Liturgy, are witnesses to the Birth and Return to Life of Christ. He and his Bible should not be betrayed.”

According to His Holiness Vladimir, Christmas is a big celebration for humanity as Jesus himself said: “I am the way, the truth, and the life”. “In a secularized and selfish, haughty and cold world, only Jesus the Child who was born in the tumbledown cave of Bethlehem can warm us up, giving us power to forgive our fellows, to help them, love them and not to take revenge on them,” says the message.

The Orthodox Christians who follow the Julian calendar celebrate Christmas on January 7.
