The statements concerning the new place of stay submitted to the local public administration are valid also for the November 15 runoff vote. The declaring of the place of stay is the procedure by which the citizens with the right to vote can declare the place of stay on the election day.

Contacted by IPN, head of the Central Election Commission’s Public Relations and the Media Service Rodica Sîrbu said that in the current period the persons can no longer submit statements concerning the new place of stay. This was possible until October 1 inclusive. The runoff is organized by the same electoral bodies and with the same registers of voters, but with other additional lists.

To vote at another polling station in another locality, the person can file an application to the local electoral bureau of the polling station and will receive a right to vote certificate. With this certificate, the person can vote at any polling station established on Moldova’s territory. The certificates issued for the first round of voting are not valid for the runoff.

The applications to vote with the mobile ballot box can be submitted until 6pm on November 16 and until 3pm on November 15. The electoral bureau gathers all the applications and compiles an electoral list for voting at the place of stay. With this list, two members of the bureau go to the addresses communicated by applicants and only the persons who filed relevant applications vote based on it. The applications submitted for the first round are not valid for the runoff vote.

The students who are eligible to vote and who do not have registration at the domicile or residence in the locality where they study in the presidential elections vote according to the general rules, at the polling station that corresponds to their domicile or valid residence or they can ask for a right to vote certificate.

The voters in the November 15 runoff will choose between the PAS candidate Maia Sandu and independent candidate Igor Dodon.
