Members of the Shor Party are indignant at the Appeals Court’s decision to remove the party’s candidate Inna Popenko from the presidential race. These describe the actions of the Central Election Commission and courts of law as repression against Inna Popenko. The position was presented in a news conference on October 22, IPN reports.

Inna Popenko said the government and its candidates in elections hatch plots and incite to attacks against her and the whole team. “Therefore, we call on all our supporters who are against this regime to come to the Supreme Court of Justice to a peaceful protest at 2pm,” she stated.

Marina Tauber, a member of the party’s Political Council, said the team is indignant at the attempt to remove Inna Popenko from the electoral race. These actions are nothing but dirty games. Their candidate has been discriminated from the stat, when Ilan Shor was not allowed to act as her legal representative in the campaign. The attempt to exclude Inna Popenko from the electoral race is a serious violation of the rights of the candidate and her supporters and of the democratic provisions.

Head of the party’s electoral staff Pavel Verejanu, who is the leader of the group of councilors “For Orhei” on the Orhei Local Council, said the CEC’s decision, confirmed by the Appeals Court, is an insult at the residents of Orhei, who intend to boycott the elections if Inna Popenko is removed from the race for the presidency.

On October 21, the Chisinau Appeals Court annulled the registration of Inna Popenko as a runner in the race for the presidency on behalf of the Party “Ravnopravie”/Shor Party. The Court pronounced at the request of the CEC, which, for its part, was notified by independent candidate Silvia Radu. Inna Popenko is accused of corrupting voters and of not reporting all the costs incurred in the election campaign. The Court’s decision was challenged in the Supreme Court of Justice by the candidate’s lawyers the same day.
