The Balti local organization of the Moldova Noastra Alliance (AMN) decided to join the Democratic Party. The announcement was made by the organization's head Vitalie Turcanu in a news conference on Thursday. He said that most of the members of the organization are in favor of such a move, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“The local organization of the AMN in Balti has over 500 members. They made considerable effort in the November 28, 2010 legislative elections. The organization provided arguments in favor of preserving the party's independence, but we haven't been heard. After half a year of silence, we were told that the AMN will merge with the PLDM. The decision was taken without consulting the local organizations,” said Vasile Gutu, deputy head of the Balti local organization.
According to Vasile Gutu, the local organizations of the AMN in Floresti, Soldanesti, Soroca and other towns will not take part in the April 9 congress of the party as they hadn't been consulted before the merger decision was made. The local organization in Causeni announced that they will join the Liberal Party, while the Stefan Voda organization – the Democratic Party (PDM).
“We found more understanding in the PDM. We reached consensus on decisions and strategies,” said a representative of the AMN's organization in Balti Marin Cemartan.
Asked by Info-Prim Neo to comment on the decision of the AMN members from Balti, the party's vice president Leonid Bujor said they are trying to manipulate public opinion. 2/3 of the members of the AMN's local organization in Balti said they will not leave the party and are in favor of the merger with the PLDM. “After the April 9 congress of the party, we will say more. It should be noted that the statement made by the group from Balti is not true as the local organization has not yet come together to take a decision,” said Leonid Bujor.
The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) and the Moldovan Noastra Alliance signed the merger agreement on March 22. It is to be confirmed by decisions of the congresses of the two parties.
