The livestock sector in the Republic of Moldova recorded higher results last year in meat, milk, and egg production compared to the previous year. The total meat production (live weight) reached approximately 180,000 tons, marking a 6.6% increase compared to 2023, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry. Milk production increased by 2.3%, while egg production grew by 3.4%, IPN reports.

The ministry states that direct payments granted to farmers based on the quantity of products obtained had a decisive impact on boosting production in the livestock sector. These incentives encouraged investments in modernization, process optimization, and farm capacity expansion.

Livestock farms saw a 15.9% increase in meat production, a 25.4% rise in milk production, and an 8.6% growth in egg production.

Animal stocks on farms are also on an upward trend, with the most significant growth recorded in pig populations.
