The bill to introduce the meal ticket system was registered in Parliament on May 17. The announcement was made by Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu in a news conference, IPN reports.
The official said the proposals formulated in debates with the business community and different experts were taken into account. The meal tickets will be offered by employers in addition to the salary, without reducing this. Employees will be able to use these at the canteen, in shops or even at restaurants, but only for food products. The tickets are a supplement on which no social or health insurance contributions and income tax are paid. They represent deductible costs for employers.
According to the Speaker, the law will foster economic development and will help fight the illegal payment of salaries and tax evasion. Andrian Candu voiced hope the bill will be adopted by the end of the current parliamentary session and employees will enjoy this supplement as of January 2018.
