Application can be submitted to apply to the “European Village” Program, the 2024 edition. Priority will be given to water systems rehabilitation projects. All smaller or larger mayor’s offices can apply with projects to the value of up to 10 million lei, without the contribution of localities, IPN reports.

Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Andrei Spînu said that water supply is one of the priorities of the Government’s National Plan “Building European Moldova”, as well as of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development. The minister encouraged all mayors of communes that do not have water supply systems to apply.

Also, the mayor’s offices can apply with projects to rehabilitate and install public lighting, to construct or rehabilitate public buildings, including through measures to improve energy efficiency, to install renewable energy production and supply systems, to construct and reconstruct sports buildings, buildings intended for the provision of social services, etc. For these measures, mayor’s offices of villages with up to 1.500 inhabitants can benefit from up to one million lei, without the contribution of localities, while of villages with more than 1,500 inhabitants – from up to three million lei, without the contribution of localities, or from up to 10 million lei with a minimum contribution of 15% from the locality.

Andrei Spînu said that the designing of general urban plans of localities will continue to be supported. For this priority, major’s offices will benefit from 100% funding of costs. Mayor’s offices that attract projects funded from external sources will also be supported. “In this regard, we will cover 100% of the contribution of mayor’s offices for projects attracted from external sources,” said the official.

“Dear mayors, I urge you to set well the priorities, to prepare well the technical projects so that we together build European Moldova. We start this program with great confidence and I’m sure we will take another step towards better living conditions in our localities.”

Submissions are accepted between December 20 and March 29, 5 p.m. For additional questions, mayors can contact the National Office for Regional and Local Development or the offices of regional development agencies.

A sum of 600 million lei was allocated for the first stage of the project.
