Mayors in ten suburbs elected by first round. Runoffs to be held in eight localities

The mayors in ten suburban settlements of the municipality of Chisinau were elected by the first round of voting. In another eight suburban localities, runoff votes will be held in two weeks, IPN reports.

Three candidates of the Party of Action and Solidarity were elected by the first round. These are: Alexandr Vornicu – mayor of Stăuceni commune (78.73% of the vote), Victoria Calmîş – mayor of Ghidighici (50.50%), and Ilie Leahu – mayor of Băcioi (92.23%).

Another two elected mayors represent the National Alternative Movement. Denis Danila was elected mayor of Vatra (75.66%), while Angela Zaporojan will manage Colonița village (60.48%).

The winner in Sângera town is Valeriu Popa of the People’s Will Party (77.14% of vote). In Cruzești, the winner is Violeta Crudu of the Liberal Party (66.87%), while in Condrița, the winner is Alexei Boșneaga of the Liberal Democratic Party (52.82%).

Among the winners are two independent candidates. In Ciorescu commune, the mayoralty will be held by Ivan Scripnic (77.52%), while in Budești village – by Nina Costiuc (56.65%).

In another eight suburban settlements, a runoff vote will be held in two weeks as none of the candidates there gained more than half of the valid votes cast. These are towns of Codru, Cricova, Durlești, and Vadul Lui Vodă and the communes of Bubuieci, Tohatin, Trușeni, and Grătiești.
