Mayor of Chisinau demands rationalizing spending

The Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca instructed the municipal officials to optimize the use of public money. The budget is now used mainly for current expenditure. There is no money for investment, the mayor said at the City Hall’s meeting on Monday. Dorin Chirtoaca said that the salaries will not be reduced for the time being, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Though the collections into the budget are practically at the same level as last year, the spending rose as the salaries have been increased. So, we do not have money for investments,” the mayor said. “Every leu must be spent reasonably,” he added. According to the head of the General Finance Division Maria Caraus, the Chisinau Municipal Council was asked to cut the costs. A relevant decision is now being drafted and will be submitted to the Council. Recently, the administration of the Chisinau Trolleybus Company has announced that some of the trolleybus routes will be suspended for the weekend in order to save money.
