The mayor of Balti Alexandr Petkov announced that he will convene the municipal council in order to initiate the dismissal of the deputy mayor who was detained by officers of the National Anticorruption Center on Monday, IPN reports.
"The mayor’s office and I, personally, will offer the law enforcement agencies all the support so that this incident is investigated as quickly as possible," said Alexander Petkov.
The NAC on Monday informed about the detention of a deputy mayor of Balti municipality and the deputy head of the Education, Youth and Sports Division of the Balti mayor’s office. According to the criminal investigation body, the civil servants systematically received illicit financial means from the heads of subdivisions of the mayor’s office and from directors of institutions managed by the municipality for providing undeserved services or favors. t was also found that one of the suspects took a bribe in the amount of €200,000 for favoring an economic agent.
