Moldova’s Maxim Dubarenco scored the second victory at the international Futures tournament of Astana, whose price money totals US$15,000. He went through to the quarterfinals after eliminating two athletes who represented the hosts, IPN reports.
First, Dubarenco beat Aleksei Kedriuk by 6-4, 6-2. In the second round, he won against Mamyr Bolat by 6-3, 6-2. In the quarterfinals, he plays Russia’s Denis Matsukevich, who is the 404th in the ATP rankings. Earlier, Dubarenco competed in another tournament in Kazakhstan, where he reached the semifinals.
Moldovan tennis player Radu Albot was eliminated in the first round of the Challenger tournament of Honk Kong. He was defeated by English player Kyle Edmundo by 4-6, 6-7.
