Moldovan tennis player Maxim Dubarenco has qualified for the semifinals of the ITF F51 tournament held in Antalya. In quarterfinals, he beat the hosts’ favorite Efe Yurtakan of Turkey in two sets, 6-4, 6-3.
In semifinals on December 27, Dubarenco, who ranks 333rd in the ATP rankings, plays Croatia’s Borna Coric, who is the second favorite of the competition. The 20-year-old athlete defeated Fabien Reboul of France and Altug Celikbilek of Turkey.
Maxim Dubarenco is the third favorite of the competition that offers prize money of US$10,000. This year, he won the “Progress of the Year” title conferred by the Moldovan Tennis Federation.
Moldova’s best tennis player Radu Albot is in India, where an international tournament starts on December 30.
