The Professional League of Martial Arts “Golden League Moldova” stages a charity tournament of mixed martial arts on June 1. The proceeds will go to help the children affected by the May 1 fire on an attic-like apartment story in Botanica district of Chisinau.
In a news conference at IPN, Victor Popescu, the representative of the World Kickboxing and Mixed Martial Arts Federation, said that this way the athletes want to help the children who remained without clothes, toys and other things they need. “We want to be near and help those who need our aid,” stated the wrestler.
Head of the public association ALFA Sports Club Andrei Andres said that there will be helped six children. A number of singers subscribed to their initiative and will also take part in the event.
In the same news conference, a mother of two Elena Lungu said that all her family’s possessions burned in that fire. In summer the children are on vacation and need fewer things, but on September 1 they will go to school and need school supplies and clothes for the new school year. “Earlier, we helped children from socially deprived families, but now we also need help,” stated the woman.
The charity event is supported by the Party of Socialists (PSRM). The party’s executive secretary Vlad Batrincea said the PSRM will provide logistic, organizational and promotional support.
The charity tournament of mixed martial arts will take place at the Chisinau Club “Faraon” on June 1, when it is celebrated the International Children’s Day. From 11am until 7pm, there will be held competitions between children amateurs, while in the evening – professional fights. Tickets are on sale for 100 lei. The club has a capacity of 500 places.
