Ex-minister of finance Mariana Durleșteanu, former ambassador to the UK, announced her decision to go into politics. The PSRM’s former candidate for premiership intends to join the Party of Law and Justice that is managed by General Nicolae Alexei.

“I came to the Republic of Moldova several days ago and my visit is related to my decision to enter politics. We are a team and embrace a clear ideology. The official announcement will be made soon. I’m against adding one more party to the existing long list of parties. We will join an existing party,” Mariana Durleșteanu stated in the program “Fourth Power” on N4 channel. She noted she will top the list and the whole team will be presented in the near future.

Mariana Durleșteanu chose a less known party, but said that she did it out of respect for the party’s leader, General Nicolae Alexei, who is a signatory of the Declaration of Independence and was a member of Moldova’s first Parliament.

“A party with a Christian-Democratic ideology whose values are aimed at the family, education, health and a developed economy,” said Mariana Durleșteanu, noting that General Alexei is a legend owing to the way in which he fought organized crime and she wanted to join someone who brought added value to this country.

According to the Central Election Commission, 53 political entities are eligible to take part in the upcoming snap parliamentary elections. By now, seven parties filed the required documents to the CEC for being registered as election contenders.
