Mariana Cherdivara becomes European vice champion

Mariana Cherdivara has won silver at the European Wrestling Championships held in Serbia. In the 58 kg class, she was beaten only by Norway’s Grace Bullen, IPN reports.

Before reaching the final, Cherdivara defeated Elin Nilsson of Sweden 5-0 and Germany’s Laura Mertens 4-2. Mariana Cherdivara competed also in the Rio Olympics, where she managed to score a victory.

At the championships in Serbia, medals for Moldova were also obtained by Svetlana Saenko (75 kg) and Andrei Perpelita (61 kg), who won bronzes. Greco-Roman wrestlers Donior Islamov (59 kg), Valentin Petic (66 kg), Valeriu Todercan (71 kg) and Daniel Cataraga (75 kg) enter the competition on May 6.
