Acting President Marian Lupu is paying an official visit to Italy at the invitation of the Italian President Giorgio Napolitano. Before departure, he told the press that he was invited to take part in the ceremony that will be held to celebrate 150 years of Italy’s unification, Info-Prim Neo reports. Marian Lupu will be in Italy during June 1-3. He will have a number of meetings with Italian officials to confer on the bilateral relations between Moldova and Italy. On May 31, the Acting President of Moldova paid a fact-finding visit to the Embassy of Italy in Chisinau. Ambassador Stefano De Leo informed him that they implemented a computerized system that facilitates access to the services provided by the embassy. Owing to this system, the applicants from all Moldova’s districts benefit from fast and efficient services and the number of issued visas has increased. Marian Lupu said he would like all the embassies in the country to have such systems that enable to process the applications for visas in a short period of time. During two years, the Moldovans were issued with over 50,000 visas for Italy. Half of the visas were granted for the purpose of family reintegration. The Moldovans also asked for visas for business and work purposes and for trips.
