Speaker and interim President of Moldova Marian Lupu met with the United States ambassador and the EU ambassadors accredited in Chisinau, President’s Office said in a press release.
The head of the EU Delegation, Dirk Schuebel, told the Moldovan head of the state about the EU’s decision to continue supporting Moldova on the path of internal reforms and European integration. Romania's Ambassador Marius Lazurca reiterated his country's will to extend and improve bilateral relationships. A similar position was voiced by US Ambassador Asif Chaudry, who spoke about his country’s support for European reforms in Chisinau.
Marian Lupu, for his part, informed the diplomats about the results of local elections, about the post-electoral situation and the latest developments in Moldovan politics. They discussed about the dangers of harsh polemics within the AIE and about attempts to classify some important reforms, like that in education. Lupu said that reforms must be transparent and must involve society and experts in the decision-making process. People should be informed about the proposed goals and expected results.
He added that the parties in the Alliance for European Integration could fulfill their engagements of European integration for Moldova only together. This is the only way to ensure the necessary progress for raising people’s standard of living, he added.
