Head of Parliament Marian Lupu called upon the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), Prime Minister Vlad Filat to return to the negotiating table so as to find a solution to the political crisis. Otherwise, the Premier is urged to resign so that an acting Prime Minister could be named instead, who will objectively manage the executive. Marian Lupu says he will resign immediately after Vlad Filat does it, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a press briefing, the Speaker said that the Alliance for European Integration no longer exists because the PLDM withdrew from the agreement on the formation of the alliance. He also said he believes that Vlad Filat is in a deep crisis and is no longer able to manage the Government. According to Marian Lupu, after the latest events on the political arena, he started to understand what led to the dismemberment of the AEI. He described the accusations against his party colleague Vlad Plahotniuc as ‘hysterical’. “The only goal of Filat was to make a victim of himself,” he stated. The Head of Parliament called on the PLDM and the Liberal Party to make everything possible to avoid early elections. Marian Lupu believes that an agreement can be reached with his former alliance colleagues. Moldova’s European course is not yet compromised, but everything depends on the political class. The PLDM withdrew from the AEI agreement on February 13, saying they were ready to negotiate a new agreement that would exclude the oligarchic principles. On February 21, the deputy chairman of the PLDM Valeriu Strelet said the negotiations on the re-formation of the AEI will start in the near future. According to him, the PLDM is the nucleus and foundation of the alliance. That’s why the party treats the functioning of the alliance with full responsibility.
