Maria Postoiko must choose, jurist

Jurist Mihai Corj addressed an open letter to President Nicolae Timofti and Head of Parliament Marian Lupu, saying that Maria Postoiko must be dismissed from the post of judge or should renounce the seat of MP, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We live in the country of paradoxes, where the laws are written for the masses, not yet for the government officials. They violate the constitutional and legal provisions and try to keep the public posts held earlier. Misinterpreting the law, they abuse their authority and try to teach us how to behave,” said the jurist. According to Mihai Corj, the April 5 presidential decree on the appointment of Maria Postoiko as judge at the Balti Court of Appeals shows that the post of judge was ‘reserved’ for the lawmaker. The seat of MP is incompatible with any other paid post, except the teaching and scientific activities. “When a person is in a situation of incompatibility, he/she must resign within 30 days of the validation of the seat. If this period is not respected, the person is suspended from the incompatible post,” stated Mihai Corj. He also said that according to a website, Maria Postoiko is also a party member and this position is incompatible with the post of independent judge. Maria Postoiko is a member of the Communist parliamentary group.
