Several dozen Orthodox Christians took part in a March for the Family staged by the Moldovan Metropolitan Church in central Chisinau on May 23. In the meeting held in the square of the Metropolitan Cathedral, where the march ended, Metropolitan Bishop Vladimir called on the faithful to give birth to and raise more children for the people’s benefit, IPN reports.
The March for the Family condemned the demonstrations of the LGBT community. Metropolitan Bishop Vladimir said the church laws must be put above the civil laws. “We must never be ashamed of being Orthodox Christians,” stated His Holiness, calling on the faithful to struggle each in their settlement to defend the values of the traditional family.
The Metropolitan Bishop urged the Christians to give birth to more children, promising he will personally baptize them in the Metropolitan Cathedral, starting with the fourth child in the family. If God gives him time, he will also become their religious father when these get married.
Last week, the LGBT community mounted a march to close the Rainbow over the Nistru Festival that promotes the rights of the persons of a nontraditional sexual orientation. Simultaneously, a number of Orthodox Christians came together to say prayers.
