The man who supposedly set fire to a police car on the day of the presidential runoff was arrested. According to the police, the man was rewarded US$900 for the crime, IPN reports.

The Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases said that the 49-year-old man was apprehended near his home in Botanica sector of the capital city. He admitted that he poured gasoline on the police car parked near the building of the General Police Inspectorate.

During the hearings, the suspect said that, after setting fire to the car, he made a video that he sent to the leader of the group as confirmation of the fact that the task was carried out. For his deed, he received US$900.

The leader of the group and an accomplice were arrested on November 5 and are in pre-trial detention. The person who ordered the arson is from the Transnistrian region and is said to be in Moscow.

The arrested man was earlier was tried for theft and drug distribution.
