A 51-year-old man, who had been wanted since 2002 for committing a double murder, has been arrested in Chisinau. He was also under investigation for a series of violent robberies, IPN reports.
According to the General Police Inspectorate (IGP), the suspect is accused of attacking two employees at a gas station in Nisporeni district in 1999, along with an accomplice, using a knife and a metal pipe. The perpetrators aimed to steal large amounts of money and diesel fuel.
In 2001, the same man, allegedly acting in coordination with three other individuals, broke into a household in Chisinau and stole valuable belongings, inflicting severe bodily injuries on the homeowners.
In 2002, together with two accomplices, he allegedly broke into a house in the village of Gratiesti while the owners were sleeping. They used a firearm, causing severe injuries that led to the victims' deaths.
The IGP reports that during this period, the suspect was hiding in other countries under a false identity. He has now been placed in Penitentiary No. 13.
