Man hospitalized after severe beating

A man from Rezeni village, Ialoveni district, was taken in a severe state to the Emergency Hospital in Chisinau, after being beaten and robbed under the bridge linking the Center and Botanica sectors. The attackers are young men, drinking companions of the victim, Info-Prim Neo reports. Adrian Jovmir, spokesman of the General Police Commissariat, said that the incident happened on June 20, around midnight. The 54 year old victim was passing near four young men who were drinking under the bridge. He seemingly befriended and joined them. However, because of the alcohol, a fight started between them and the man was cruelly beaten. The aggressors stole his papers and 300 lei. The victim, despite his state, managed to call the police. He was then taken to the hospital. The next day, the police arrested the criminals, aged between 21 and 24. Two of them are from Chisinau, one from Orhei and one from Straseni, all of them with criminal record. They are prosecuted for robbery and risk 3 to 6 years in jail, with or without a fine between 10,000 and 20,000 lei.
