An inhabitant of Rezina district was sentenced to ten years in jail for robbery committed with special cruelty against a 78-year-old man. The sentence was passed by the branch in Rezina of the Orhei Court, IPN reports.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, in the morning of July 21, 2018, the culprit, together with an unidentified person, entered the house of a man in Gordinești village of Rezina district. The two beat the man cruelly and demanded that he gave them all his money. The man refused and the aggressors hit him in the head with a cudgel and then stole 1,200 lei from the house and ran away.
The man was found yet alive by neighbors. The 29-year-old culprit was arrested in several hours. He was in remand detention until the sentence was passed. He is from the same village as the victim and was earlier tried.
The beaten man died in the hospital in ten days.
The sentence can be appealed to the Appeals Court.
