A Chisinau man, 46, was sentenced to 14 years in a closed-type prison on charges of domestic violence leading to death.
The man pleaded not guilty, the Prosecutor General’s Office said in a press release. The sentence may be appealed within 15 days.
The man and his female partner were living in a rented Buiucani flat. Following an alcohol-induced argument, the man beat the woman to death, prosecutors proved in court.
In addition to the prison time, the man was ordered to pay the state 8,400 lei in costs.
