A man from the municipality of Cahul is investigated for shooting his wife from whom he separated and her mother in the stairs of an apartment building in Cahul in the evening of November 27. It happened when the women were returning home together with other members of the family.
Contacted by IPN for details, Cristina Ciobanu, press officer of the Cahul Police Inspectorate, said that immediately after being called out, the police travelled to the scene. It was determined that the two women entered the building the first and were shoot. The man fired at his wife with whom he ended his relationship and her mother. The 69-yert-old woman died on the spot, while the woman aged 49 perished while under intensive care.
The man was remanded in custody for 72 hours. He held the gun illegally. He faces life imprisonment for premeditated murder.
Cristina Ciobanu said the couple has a child who came of age and lives separately.
