Prosecutors in Comrat demand to reclassify the deed of a 37-year-old man from serious injury to murder and punish this with 23 years in jail on cumulative charges. It happens after the defendant was recently sentenced to 17 years in prison by the Comrat Court, IPN reports.

The Prosecutor General’s Office said the defendant was found guilty of aggravated hooliganism and intentional serious harm to the body or health, which caused the death of the victim. He was sentenced to 17 years in a closed prison.

According to the indictment, on March 11, the man, being under the influence of alcohol in a bar in Comrat municipality, as a result of a spontaneous conflict between him and another man, hit the other man for several times with a metal chair. As a result of the sustained injuries, the victim died on the spot.

The pretrial detention as a preventive measure against the defendant was maintained until the entry into force of the conviction sentence.
