“On November 15, we have the chance to put the Republic of Moldova on the correct path and to together build a functional state that would work for the people,” stated the candidate of the Party of Action and Solidary for President Maia Sandu, who, according to the preliminary results, will compete with independent candidate supported by the PSRM Igor Dodon in the runoff. According to her, the people voted for changes and there are two more weeks during which this huge change can be brought about, IPN reports.

The PAS leader told a news conference that the people won the first round of voting in Moldova yesterday. They proved that the country can unite to beat the evil and the power of the united people helps the good to triumph. She thanked the young people, the people from all the country’s localities and those who reside abroad and stayed in lines for hours to be able to vote. “I won the first round of voting owing to you,” stated Maia Sandu.

The PAS leader thanked her opponents in the first round of voting - Andrei Năstase, Octavian Țîcu, Dorin Chirtoacă - for their announced support for the runoff vote. She called on those who are in power to give up the electoral fraud and not to press the public sector employees or local elected officials who do not support them.

With 100% of the ballots cast in the country counted, the results are as follows: the PAS candidate Maia Sandu gained 36.16% of the vote, while independent candidate Igor Dodon, who is supported by the Party of Socialists, won 32.61% of the vote. After counting the votes of the Moldovan abroad, Maia Sandu is shown to be the leader with 70.12% of the poll, being followed by Renato Usatyi with 17.25% and Igor Dodon with 3.65% of the ballot.
