The Supreme Security Council (SCC) recommends the Government to come up with changes in the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office (APO), which fully failed to fight grand corruption. President Maia Sandu announced this after the CSS’ meeting, IPN reports.

"We must admit that the changes we made at the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office have not yielded results. The suggestion or recommendation of the Supreme Security Council to the Government was to come up with a new proposal to change the situation at the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office. We have seen complete failure in the fight against grand corruption and especially in the fight against political corruption," President Sandu said in a briefing.

The Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office is headed by Veronica Dragalin, who took over on August 1, 2022, after the Superior Council of Prosecutors designated her the winner of the contest for the position of APO chief on June 7. Veronica Dragalin previously served as an assistant prosecutor in the Public Corruption and Civil Rights Section of the United States Attorney's Office for the Central District of California. Over time, she has been criticized for multiple times, being accused of lack of action in fighting corruption.
