Maia Sandu: Programs to study Romanian language can be an element of social cohesion

For the Moldovan authorities, the strengthening of social cohesion is a priority as they aim to make sure that each citizen feels safe, enjoys equal rights and knows that he/she has personal and professional development chances, said Presdient Maia Sandu, who had a meeting with the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Kairat Abdrakhmanov, IPN reports.

“The programs by which members of ethnic communities can study Romanian and, in parallel, their mother tongue is an element of social cohesion,” said President Sandu.

The official approved of the OSCE’s assistance to designing the strategy for strengthening interethnic relations in the Republic of Moldova for 2017-2027. She expressed her conviction that the partnership with the OSCE contributes to the integration of the cultural communities, to the development of the ethnic and linguistic diversity in the Republic of Moldova and to the promotion of united society.

The officials conferred on the current situation in the field of interethnic relations in the country and the cooperation with this body of the OSCE.
