"It is a reason for concern when drones fly over the airspace of the Republic of Moldova," President Maia Sandu said after the meeting of the Supreme Security Council, IPN reports.

The official noted that "the necessary equipment must be purchased so that we have the whole country protected and all citizens feel safe."

Maia Sandu reiterated that the two drones that fell on Sunday do not pose a danger to the population, as reported by the responsible institutions, and stressed that since the first day of the war in Ukraine, the authorities have taken measures to strengthen Moldova's defense sector.

"We have done everything to protect the airspace of the Republic of Moldova, including through those acquisitions we made so that we can detect and prevent situations that create danger for the citizens,” said President Sandu.

Two Russian-origin "Shahed" drones crashed on the territory of Moldova on Sunday, without causing casualties and material damage. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs took a stand: "We strongly condemn these aggressive incursions and reiterate our condemnation of Russia's brutal war against Ukraine."
