As a result of the cooperation with NATO, the Republic of Moldova managed to gradually strengthen the existing partnerships, to initiate the security sector reform and to start the process of modernizing the national army, said President Maia Sandu.  In a telephone discussion with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, President Sandu thanked the official for the partnership and the support offered to the Republic of Moldova during many years, including for the medical equipment needed to prevent the spread of COVID-19, IPN reports.

“I underlined my priorities as the President, especially the fight against corruption and the commitment to make every effort to build a safe state for the citizens and also a predictable state at international level,” Maia Sandu posted on Facebook.

She noted that the Republic of Moldova needs an active foreign policy and also concrete cooperation projects with the foreign partners. “The role of these partnerships is to bring benefits to the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, to strengthen the state institutions so that the Republic of Moldova becomes a democratic state with functional institutions and a stability factor in the region,” said Maia Sandu.
