Maia Sandu meets with OSCE Special Representative for Transnistrian Settlement

The people from both sides of the Nistru want better living conditions, jobs and economic opportunities, a healthy environment and the chance to have a future at home. These desiderata should be achieved based on domestic reforms in the interests of all the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, President Maia Sandu stated in a meeting with the Special Representative of the Swedish OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the Transnistrian Settlement Process, Thomas Mayr-Harting, IPN reports, quoting the presidential press service.

“I discussed with Mister M
ayr-Harting the fact-finding visit to the Republic of Moldova that is to be paid by the representatives of the 3+2 format next week and the conditions that should be met for resuming the dialogue on the Transnistrian settlement process,” said President Sandu.

The two officials also discussed the human rights situation on the left side of the Nistru, containing of the pandemic and free movement between the two banks of the Nistru and ensuring of security in the region.

In a meeting with Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Aureliu Ciocoi, yesterday, Mayr-Harting highlighted the necessity of making headway in the Transnistrian settlement process and of uniting authorities’ forces so as to achieve tangible results in this regard.

The Special Representative of the Swedish OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the Transnistrian Settlement Process Thomas Mayr-Harting is visiting the Republic of Moldova from 23 to 25 May.
