Three decades ago, the Moldovans decided to build together a country where the people live freely, a state where the rights of all the citizens are respected, and they can ensure their well-being and achieve their aspirations through honest work, President Maia Sandu stated in connection with the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports.

“Despite the challenges of the recent years, we continue to build a state for the people in the Republic of Moldova,” said Maia Sandu.

The head of state also said that the rights and obligations of the citizen of the Republic of Moldova remind us that we are part of a community in which the good of everyone depends on the common good.

“They teach us that it is important to respect each other if we want to live in peace and harmony. Let’s know and respect the Constitution, appreciating the opportunity to be free and equal before the law. It is our social contract – it is the handshake that inspires us to build a better common future for the next generations of Moldovans,” noted President Sandu.

The Day of the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova is marked annually on July 29. The supreme law was adopted by Parliament on July 29, 1994 and entered into force on August 27, 1994.
