The president of the Party of Action and Solidarity Maia Sandu, who is the party’s candidates for President in the November 1 presidential elections, said that she is not an anti-Russia candidate and will work for the people’s benefit.

“I will not run in elections as an anti-Russia candidate. I rill run as an anti-corruption candidate and as a candidate for the honest people. I will represent and want to work for the honest people of this country,” Maia Sandu stated in the talk show “Friday with Anatolie Golea” on RTR Moldova channel.

Asked why she didn’t visit Moscow while serving as Prime Minister, Maia Sandu said a meeting to Russia’s capital was planned for October 8, 2019, but was cancelled not long before it was to be made.

“An invitation was issued to us and we agreed that I will go to Moscow on October 8. Several days before October 8, Russia’s Ambassador phoned Muster Nicu Popescu (foreign affairs minister in the Sandu Government – e.n.) and told him that they cannot receive Missis Sandu on October 8. I asked when the meeting could take place and no one answered. Judging by what happened to the Government, we can presume that they knew in Moscow that the Government would not stay long,” noted Maia Sandu.

The decision to propose Maia Sandu as a candidate for President was taken by the Party of Action and Solidarity in its July 18 congress. Maia Sandu will enter the election campaign and will present her electoral program when the campaign is launched officially, in September.
