The Party of Action and Solidarity’s candidate for President Maia Sandu said she will insist on serious reforms in the justice sector on clearing the judiciary and prosecution service of corrupt and vulnerable people who hide corruption schemes. As the President, she will formulate a legislative proposal to allow assessing the judges and prosecutors depending on their property and on the decisions passed by them the last few years, IPN reports.

In a news conference, Maia Sandu said the judges and prosecutors will have to prove that they earned their propriety legally or should leave the system. The second criterion is the decisions they passed the last few years. If illegal decisions and decisions that cost the state and the citizens are identified, they will leave the system.

“An honest President will name an honest Prime Minister. An honest President will name only honest persons as judges. An honest President will support and name only honest persons in all the state institutions,” said the PAS leader.

“Moldova needs such a leader. The Republic of Moldova needs honest, courageous, competent leaders who care for the people, who want and can solve the problems faced by the citizens. We need a President who would respect the citizens and would know their problems.”

Maia Sandu noted that the people want jobs and united families here, at home. Many people had to go abroad because they could not get an appropriate salary at home. To improve things, the economy should be developed. To improve the living conditions, the ‘European state ‘concept should be implemented. Among the objectives are also to raise the pension to over 2,000 lei and to come closer to the European Union.

There are eight aspirants for the post of President, namely: Renato Usatyi (Our Party), Andrei Năstase (PPPDA), Tudor Deliu (PLDM), Igor Dodon (independent), Violeta Ivanov (Shor Party), Maia Sandu (PAS), Octavian Țîcu (PUN) and Dorin Chirtoacă (UNION Electoral Bloc).
