Moldova is a captive state and I feel bad to form part of the current government, Minister of Education Maia Sandu said in the talk show “Interpol” on TV7 channel, IPN reports.

According to Maia Sandu, Moldova didn’t yet manage to build functional institutions. “We found ourselves in a vicious circle. On the one hand, we must build these institutions, but, on the other hand, corruption hampers us. Even the National Bank, which seemed to be a successful institution during many years, turned out to be unable to prevent a large theft from the system. The National Anticorruption Center lacks credibility as it carries out investigations based on the political color only. The row of examples can be continued,” said the minister.

Maia Sandu specified that she accepted to hold again office as minister in order to be able to continue the initiated reforms. “On the one hand, the education system of the country must be reformed. The story about Premier Gaburici’s diplomas revealed all the problems existing in the education system. On the other hand, I regret that I form part of a Government that was voted in with the help of the Communists,” she stated.

The minister reiterated her position that the report produced by the company Kroll must be made public. “I signed a statement pledging not to reveal information as I wouldn’t have had access to this report otherwise. But I will do everything possible for the report to be published. The people have the right to know who and how stole their money. This money could have been used to increase salaries, including of teachers, to as to ensure education of a high quality,” said Maia Sandu.
