President Maia Sandu is bewildered at the objections of some of the parliamentary parties to the presidential administration. She noted she offered the parliamentary groups the possibility of investing the Gavrilița Government or the Grosu Government and this chance was missed by Parliament. She will wait for the Constitutional Court’s decision on the circumstances for dissolving Parliament and, depending on the pandemic situation in the country, will decide whether to sign the decree on the dissolution of the legislature and calling of snap elections or not, IPN reports.

President Sandu refused to give details about the consultations held with the parliamentary groups, saying that after the discussions with representatives of all the parties, she will present her official position. All her actions of the last few months were in accordance with the Constitution.

“Those who now speak about the necessity of investing a Government should have voted one of the two candidates I nominated as these were upright persons who can handle the health crisis. If the Socialists want to have a government of theirs, they have it already. This is the outgoing Government,” Maia Sandu stated in the program “Friday with Anatolie Golea” on RTR channel.

President Sandu said that she learned from the press about Mariana Durleșteanu’s decision to withdraw her candidacy for premiership.

“I found out from the press, after the consultations with the Socialist parliamentary group. I saw the news item, but I didn’t talk to Mariana Durleșteanu. I’ve known her since I worked at the Ministry of Economy. She worked at the Ministry of Finance. I didn’t have objections to the candidate as it does not go to the candidate, but to those who support this Government,” stated Maia Sandu.

She insists on the idea of having snap parliamentary elections, but the date of these elections will be set depending on the pandemic situation.

“The next elections will not be organized by Plahtoniuc. These will be free and fair elections. The mixed electoral system no longer exists. The people are no longer afraid of Plahotniuc’s regime,” stated Maia Sandu.

After the failure to invest the Grosu Government in Parliament, yesterday President Maia Sandu had consultations with the groups of Pro Moldova, PAS, PPPDA and PDM. The consultations will continue on March 29. The MPs of the Shor Party are also expected to go to the discussions.
