The president of the Party “Action and Solidarity” Maia Sandu, co-president of the Bloc ACUM, said Commissioner for Europeans Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn will pay a visit to Moldova at the invitation of the opposition leaders. The invitation was issued a weekly ago in an event of the European People’s Party that involved the leaders of the Bloc ACUM, IPN reports.

“We discussed with him in a meeting centering on the Republic of Moldova and we told him it would be good if he visited our country as he wasn’t here for a long period of time and should see things here himself,” Maia Sandu stated in the program “In Depth” on ProTV Chisinau channel.

Asked if pressure from outside had been exerted on the Bloc ACUM to make it form a government coalition, Maia Sandu said they weren’t pressed to discuss with the Democrats. “I think it’s not a secret for anyone that the West considers Plahotniuc is the big problem of the Republic of Moldova and wants Moldova to get rid of the current regime,” she stated, noting that the leader of the PDM Vlad Plahotniuc for two times promised to withdraw from politics to important international partners, but didn’t keep his word. “I don’t think these foreign officials can come and impose a coalition or another.”

The politician said they also discussed the post-electoral scenario proposed earlier by ACUM with the foreign partners. “The people consider this is a rational scenario, but I don’t think they will want to become involved in this to a greater extent,” she stated.

As to the U.S. official’s visit, Maia Sandu said this was planned long before and is not an ad-hoc visit.

As regards the visit that is to be made by the Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak, she said this visit could mean interest in what is going on in Moldova one week before the dissolution of Parliament. The Bloc ACUM was invited to have a meeting with Dmitry Kozak, but they haven’t yet taken a decision in his regard.

About Vladimir Plahotniuc’s warning that he will have an eye on particular parties, Maia Sandu said such vocabulary does not deserve to be commented.
