With 99.44% of the votes cast in the presidential elections of November 1 being counted, the results are as follows: the PAS candidate Maia Sandu – 35.91% of the vote, while independent candidate Igor Dodon, who is supported by the Party of Socialists, won 32.78% of the ballot, IPN reports.
The Our Party’s candidate Renato Usatyi gained about 16.95% of the poll, the Shor Party’s candidate Violeta Ivanov – 6.52%, the PPPDA candidate Andrei Năstase – 3.26%, the PUN candidate Octavian Țîcu – almost 2.01%, the PLDM candidate Tudor Deliu – 1.38%, the UNION Bloc’s candidate Dorin Chirtoacă – 1.19%.
After processing 127 vote reports of out-of-country polling stations from 139, Maia Sandu is shown to be the leader with 69.54% of the poll, being followed by Renato Usatyi with 17.73%. Igor Dodon ranks third with 3.67%, being followed by Andrei Năstase - 3.63%, Octavian Țîcu – 2.09%, Dorin Chirtoacă – 1.71%, Violeta Ivanov – 1.15% and Tudor Deliu – 0.48%.
The voter turnout was 42.76% or 1 214 718 voters.
Under the Election Code, if none of the candidates for President gains at least half of the voters of those who cast their ballots, runoffs are held for the first two candidates with the largest score in the first round of voting in two weeks.
